No Blog Love in 2011 but there's a whiff of things to come.

How disgusting. It's already the 17th of January and I haven't posted a single thing on my blog this year. (Now I have. But you know what I'm getting at).

Unfortunately, as much as I conceptualize- while riding my bike, swimming in the pool or running on the treadmill- about what to write and what will keep my readers interested, I can't force my writing. It seems to come in waves, or bursts. The more I force it, the more crap it gets... it's kind of like a cat that way, you need to wait for the good-stuff.

I'll sometimes get home from a long day in the Agency, have so much on my mind and so much to do, yet all I can get to is writing. This is generally when the best stuff comes out. Other days will be like today, where it's home-time and all I want to do is hit the road and catch the last of the sunshine before is skips over the mountain to the other side of the ocean, but I suddenly get the urge to say Ola to my blog.

For now, all I can do is give you a list of things that will soon make an appearance here:

1. Many of you will remember the project I was working on for the better part of 2009. Well, the product is finally on shelf and taking Cape Town by storm (it seems)- so a post on that is definitely on the cards.

2. My new baby ( a Nikon D3100 SLR Camera) is working over-time. I would like to meld this blog into, not only writing and general banter, but my photography, too. For now, check out my Flickr page for the first set of photos from the Ritchie Christmas in the Midlands. I will be uploading some more soon, so keep watching that space! http://www.flickr.com/photos/ritchie_shutterspeed/

3. The reason I have been so quiet is because I am finally sticking to the amazing training program that The Ironman has crafted for me. Argus is less than 7 weeks away, and I am (literally) training my butt off. (I have also committed to doing my first EVER off-road Duathlon after the Argus. That's right, stay seated). So, for lack of better content and to keep you in touch with my world, I'll start posting some stuff about my training. Maybe it will inspire some of you to get cracking in the gym/ on your bike/ on the road/ in the pool...?

That feels better. I feel like I have dusted a few of the cobwebs off The Pocket Rambler. Watch this space for cycling news, training news, photography and some really cool hippie-water. Maybe you'll like it, maybe you won't. :)

Oh, and Happy New Year. I hope that 2011 is a rad year for you all.

Love and Gratitude

xx

PS: Just a side note: While I wasn't writing on my blog, I WAS beating fat men up hills on my bike this weekend. My heart-rate might have maxed out and my Heart-rate monitor screaming along with my legs and lungs, but DAMN did it feel good to beat those guys up two different hills. a PB for me. What's that Dad- did you say BMT...? - Mands.
