To date, most of you will know Ironman as a successful Triathlete and specialist in exercise, fitness and healthy living. What many of you won't know is that he's also an Interior Designer (out of practice right now due to the other [
slightly demanding] profession he has going).
Not only do we spend whole car journeys discussing the influence of design on homes, products and cities, one of our favourite things to do is window shop in the various design and home decor stores. We can spend hours wandering around, discussing how various things would fit together in a room. Most of those hours consist of me saying "What do you think of this, put with this and this?". While at first they created tension and dejection, his replies have helped to stretch my taste and heighten my sense for 'designing a space' - a term I use very loosely without accreditation to my name.
I describe myself as a creative person who is unable to draw a stick-man. I enjoy pushing the boundaries of my senses and challenging myself to notice things that most other people wouldn't- a skill I think a good photographer must have in abundance... and one I am trying to hone with every glance. I think that style and natural elegance must sit comfortably somewhere within that talent. Style and elegance are two things I hope to carry in my pocket throughout my life, available to use whenever a corner needs designing or a friend needs advice.
These are some bits and pieces I found on
Pinterest recently. I'm going through a 'duck-egg blue and gray' phase at the moment. I love the way the composition of these spaces feels cool and calm, and especially homey. They have a feeling of things being neatly in their place- tidy but useable at the same time. I am especially charmed by the inclusion of the outdoors, indoors in most of these spaces. For me, a beautiful outside is just as important as a stylish inside. The two must compliment each other. And spill over into each other. There's not a hint of 'hotel' anywhere in the shots below- they're homes that are used. And loved. Hopefully my home will feel like this one day. Ironman, what do you think of my style? Can't you just imagine settling in with a Cappuccino and the latest Triathlon magazine on a sunny Sunday Morning?

Look only at the flow from inside to outside here. The amount of blue is a bit too much for me. |

So many different things put together create an inviting space |

High ceilings and lots of light |

Random creating order |

Inside spilling over to the outside |

Reminds me of home |
Love and Gratitude
